Women's World Cup Draw: Eight days to go

The year 2018 may be drawing to a close, but one of its most exciting moments is still to come: the Final Draw for the FIFA Women’s World Cup France 2019™ will be held on 8 December 2018! Anticipation is growing among not just the participating teams but also fans from all over the world. Football lovers cannot wait to find out who their country has been drawn against, and in which cities they will be able to watch the matches.

To help the time pass more quickly, and to whet your appetite even more, FIFA.com has started its countdown to the draw. Every day, we are offering a statistic or a piece of information linked to the biggest event in women’s football.

Just eight days to go!

The total number of editions of the FIFA Women’s World Cup, including the forthcoming tournament in France. The competition was first held in China PR back in 1991. USA won that inaugural edition and, having since added two further titles to their name, remain the most successful team in the tournament’s history. The association between China PR and the USA stretches beyond the 1991 tournament: they are also the only two countries to have hosted the Women’s World Cup on two separate occasions (1991 and 2007 in China PR, 1999 and 2003 in the USA).France 2019 will be the third time that the tournament has been played on European soil, following Sweden 1995 and Germany 2011.
