Sweden seal spot in Canada

Sweden became the seventh European team to secure a ticket to the FIFA Women's World Cup Canada 2015™ with their 2-0 win over Scotland in the tenth and final day of European qualification on Thursday.

The Swedes completed a perfect qualifying campaign, winning all ten matches and finishing atop Group 4 of the UEFA qualifiers. They join Germany, England, Spain, France, Norway and Switzerland, who have all finished first in their respective groups, on the plane to Canada. Therese Sjogran scored early in the game and Lotta Schelin put the match out of reach with her 76th minute strike.

Scotland have not yet given up hope of joining next summer's festivities in Canada as they have reached the play-offs along side the Netherlands, Italy and Ukraine for the last qualifying spot. The games will be played between 25 October and 27 November.
