19 days to go

At the FIFA Women's World Cup USA 1999™, refereeing history was made as for the first time the pool of referees was entirely made up of women.

Sonia Denoncourt of Canada was the referee for the opening game on 19 June, when USA defeated Denmark 3-0 at the Giants Stadium. This summer at Canada 2015, a dedicated group of 50 female referees will oversee the 52 games of the Women's World Cup.
