Marina HEGERING (GER)
Tina on Marina:
Marina has been a leading figure in Germany youth teams for some time now. Off the field, however, she is a rather reserved character who tends to avoid the spotlight, preferring to let her performances on the pitch do the talking. She's a natural leader with a good tactical brain both in defence and attack. With an eye for the killer pass, unfailing commitment and a willingness to get stuck, she's the ideal player to have in tense situations.
Perhaps Marina could be a bit more confident in her own abilities when playing for the U-20 team. She's scored some great long-range goals at club level, so it would be nice to see her try her luck on the international scene too. Aside from that, she should try to be a bit more vocal on the pitch in order to assert her leadership skills.

Q & A
Who would you most like to swap lives with for 24 hours? I'd like to swap places with a professional footballer for the day, maybe Michael Ballack, just to see what it's like to be a full professional and how they deal with the media. It would also be nice to swap with someone older than me who has lots of life experience.
Which talent would you most like to have? I'd like to be able to play guitar.
Where would you most like to go on holiday? ** **Anywhere! It would be nice just to have a holiday.
Who's your footballing idol? Mehmet Scholl
Where might we find you when you aren't training? At my boyfriend's house or on a football pitch.
How did you first get into football?** **I first started playing football at nursery school with my friend Jonas and he used to tell me he went to football training. I wanted to go too and so did a friend of mine, so we went along one day. Since then I've never looked back. I've been at the same club for 13 years now and I've been going out with Jonas for two years.
What has been the greatest moment of your career so far? ** **All of last season. Winning the UEFA Cup and DFB Cup with FCR Duisburg was unbelievable - not to mention the U-20 World Cup in Chile, that was great too.
What are your goals in football? ** **To win the World Cup next year.
What are your hopes for the FIFA U-20 Women's World Cup? I hope we can give a good account of women's football by playing well and making women's football more exciting to watch. Hopefully there will be plenty of fans in the stadiums and it will be a great advert for the Women's World Cup in 2011.
