FIFA welcomes Sports Committee of German Parliament

Today a cross-party delegation from the Sports Committee of the German Parliament visited the Home of FIFA in Zurich and discussed salient international football issues with the FIFA President and members of the FIFA administration.

Topics ranged from the reform of the international players transfer system, investment in football development world-wide and FIFA’s related financial control mechanisms, FIFA’s approach on the sustainability of its tournaments and human rights, the new bidding process for the selection of the FIFA World Cup™ to the extension of the FIFA World Cup™ to 48 teams.

The visit was a follow up to FIFA’s participation in a hearing at the German Parliament that FIFA attended in October 2018 mainly on the FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022™ and human rights. It is envisaged to meet again in the near future to deepen this constructive dialogue.
