100 days to go: Brazil & Germany lead the way

The 2018 FIFA World Cup Russia™ is getting closer - 100 days to go!

In less than four months – on 14 June, to be precise – the 21st FIFA World Cup kicks off at Moscow’s Luzhniki Stadium, as the hosts take on Saudi Arabia.

That leaves us plenty of time to have a countdown. Between now and the start of the World Cup, we will take a closer look at a different statistic from the history of the tournament each day.

100 – Five-time champions Brazil and four-time trophy winners Germany are the only two teams to have contested more than 100 World Cup matches. With 70 wins in 104 games (17 draws, 17 defeats, 221 goals scored, and 102 conceded), A Seleção have fared slightly better than the Germans, who have won 66 of their 106 matches (20 draws, 20 defeats, 224 goals scored, and 121 conceded).
