76 days to go: Ronaldo’s amazing talent

The 2018 FIFA World Cup Russia™ is getting closer – 76 days to go!

In less than three months' time – on 14 June, to be precise – the 21st FIFA World Cup™ kicks off at Moscow's Luzhniki Stadium, as the hosts take on Saudi Arabia.

That leaves us plenty of time to enjoy a countdown. Between now and the start of the World Cup, we will take a closer look at a different statistic from the history of the tournament each day.

76 – In 1976 in Rio de Janeiro, a boy was born by the name of Ronaldo Luis Nazario de Lima, better known as simply Ronaldo or O Fenômeno. An outstanding striker with remarkable technique, intelligence and vision, he is still considered one of the best forwards in the history of the game.

Ronaldo represented Brazil at four FIFA World Cups, scoring 15 times in 19 games, making him the tournament's second-highest scorer of all time. His feats of marksmanship helped his country to the world title at Korea/Japan 2002 and earned him the adidas Golden Boot as leading goalscorer at that tournament with eight goals.
