Ali and Charrúas flatten the frontrunners

  • Ronaldo and Cheryshev, the top two on Sunday morning, had days to forget

  • Iranaians and Uruguayans starred on the opening day of Round 3

  • Eriksen, Griezmann, Messi & Musa are among the Day 13 captain options

Cristiano Ronaldo and Denis Cheryshev were cruising atop the McDonald’s FIFA World Cup™ Fantasy’s players’ leaderboard on Sunday morning. Then Harry Kane leapt from nowhere to outrank them. Then the Portugal No7 missed a penalty and got booked, and the Russia No6 netted an own-goal, to register them one and minus-one point from Round 3.

IR Iran’s Ali Beiranvand, who saved Ronaldo’s spot-kick, was the highest-scoring player on Day 12, with his eight points one more than team-mates Salem Aldawsari and Salman Alfaraj and Egypt goalkeeper Essam Elhadary.

Mo Salah and six Uruguayans, including big-money buys Luis Suarez and Edinson Cavani, were among the players to return six points.

Change your captain

Round 3 matches will take place over four days, and you can change your captain ahead of each one. Only the player that finishes Round 3 in your armband will score double points.

So, if you have Luis Suarez as your captain, you may not wish to risk making a change. But if your skipper didn’t do as well as planned, you probably want to select a new one before the Day 13 deadline (15:00 CET on Tuesday).

Teams boasting Christian Eriksen, Antoine Griezmann, Lionel Messi, Ahmed Musa are in action on Day 13. And if you choose one of them, and he doesn’t do well, you can always change your captain again ahead of the Day 14 deadline (15:00 CET on Wednesday).

Make substitutions

If a player in your starting XI didn’t perform well, you can substitute him out for a player on your bench who hasn’t yet played. However, if you want to bring in Messi for Cristiano Ronaldo, you have up until the kick-off of the first game of the day (15:00 CET on Tuesday).
