64 days to go: Trophy Tour thrills the world

The 2018 FIFA World Cup Russia™ is getting closer – 64 days to go!

In almost two months' time – on 14 June, to be precise – the 21st FIFA World Cup™ kicks off at Moscow's Luzhniki Stadium, as the hosts take on Saudi Arabia.__

That leaves us plenty of time to enjoy a countdown. Between now and the start of the World Cup, we will take a closer look at a different statistic from the history of the tournament each day.

64 destinations outside Russia are being visited by the FIFA World Cup Trophy during its traditional pre-tournament tour around the world. In total, the most prestigious prize in football will touch down in 51 countries and six continents, allowing thousands of fans to get a glimpse of the cup.

This is the fourth time that FIFA have organised the Trophy Tour alongside partner company Coca-Cola. The tradition began before the 2006 World Cup in Germany and, as part of the build-up to the tournament ever since, the tour has allowed people all around the world to feel part of the upcoming festival of football.

Every time the number of countries and cities on the tour increases, ensuring more and more supporters get to see the coveted trophy up close.
