Welcome to the streetfootballworld festival 06!

Teams from around the world will show street football at its best Germany welcomes the world of street football: during the final week of the 2006 FIFA World Cup™ street footballers from five continents will meet for the "street-footballworld festival 06". In Berlin around 180 young male and female players will show their skills on the ball in a street football stadium for 2200 spectators. The teams are representing projects that use football against violence, drugs and AIDS, for peace and tolerance. Films and photos provide an insight into the work of the football projects.

From July 2nd to 8th 22 teams will play for the Copa Andrés Escobar, named after the Colombian national footballer who was shot following his own goal at the 1994 FIFA World Cup™. 24 teams were invited to the "festival 06", however the teams from Ghana and Nigeria were not granted a visa to travel to Germany.

streetfootballworld supports street football worldwide through a strategic alliance with the FIFA "Football for Hope" movement. This year, FIFA has supported five projects in the streetfootballworld network. The German Federal Government has supported streetfootballworld since its founding. The "festival 06" is an official element of the Artistic and Cultural Programme to the 2006 FIFA World Cup™. Ambassador of the "festival 06" is the German national coach Jürgen Klinsmann.
