On this day in 1934, Italy defeated Czechoslovakia 2-1 AET in Rome and won their first FIFA World Cup; the decisive goal was scored by Angelo Schiavio in the 95th minute.

On this day in 1990, Germany defeated Yugoslavia 4-1 in Milan; the second goal was scored by Jurgen Klinsmann, his first of 11 in FIFA World Cup™.
