Exactly 32 years ago, on 22 June 1974, Australia recorded their first point at a FIFA World Cup after drawing 0-0 with Chile.

On this day in 1974, Germany FR and Germany DR played each other in Hamburg; Sparwasser scored in the 77th minute to give Germany DR a 1-0 victory.

On this day in 1986, Argentina defeated England in a historic quarter-final match in Mexico City (2-1); Maradona scored two goals, the first of which came to be known as the infamous "hand of god". The second goal remains one of the greatest ever seen in FIFA World Cup™ history.

On this day in 2002, Mansiz's golden goal in the 94th minute against Senegal ensured Turkey reached a historic semi-final.
