Match #27 - Munich - BRAZIL-AUSTRALIA*
Brazil lead with three wins, one draw and one defeat in five previous head-to-heads with Australia at senior level. Their most recent meeting ended in a surprise 1-0 victory for Australia at the FIFA Confederations Cup 2001.
This will be the first time that Brazil and Australia meet at FIFA World Cup. Previous head-to-heads in other FIFA final competitions include one Olympic Football Tournament match in 1988 (3-0 win for Brazil), three FIFA Confederations Cup matches (one win each and one draw), three FIFA U-20 World Cup matches (two wins for Brazil, one for Australia) and six FIFA U-17 World Cup matches (four wins for Brazil, one for Australia and one draw).
Australia have lost two matches on German soil in FIFA final competitions on 18 June: at the FIFA World Cup in 1974 Australia were defeated 3-0 by Germany FR in Hamburg and at the FIFA Confederations Cup 2005 they lost 2-4 to Argentina in Nuremberg.
Match #28 - Nuremberg - JAPAN-CROATIA*
Croatia won their only previous FIFA World Cup head-to-head against Japan 1-0 in Nantes on 20 June 1998; the decisive goal was scored by Suker in the 77th minute.
Exactly four years ago, on 18 June 2002, Japan were eliminated from the FIFA World Cup after losing 0-1 to Turkey in a round-of-16 match in Miyagi.
Croatia have always won their second FIFA World Cup group match by a margin of one goal: in 1998, they defeated Japan 1-0 and in 2002, they overcame Italy 2-1. All three goals were scored between the 73rd and 77th minute: in 1998, Suker scored the decisive goal in the 77th minute, while in 2002, Olic scored the equaliser in the 73rd minute and Rapajic scored the winner three minutes later.
On 8 June 1997, Japan defeated Croatia 4-3 in a Kirin Cup match in Tokyo.
Match #29 - Leipzig - FRANCE-KOREA REPUBLIC*
In both previous "A" team head-to-heads between France and Korea Republic, the Europeans won and the number of goals per match totalled five: France defeated Korea Republic 5-0 at the 2001 FIFA Confederations Cup and 3-2 in a 2002 FIFA World Cup warm-up match in Korea. France have also won a FIFA U-20 World Cup match against Korea Republic: in 1997, they defeated the Asians 4-2.
In two FIFA World Cup matches against Asian opponents, France have come out on top and scored four goals on both occasions: they defeated Kuwait 4-1 in 1982 and Saudi Arabia 4-0 in 1998.
Korea Republic have never won their second FIFA World Cup group match; they have recorded four draws and two defeats to date
