Deutsche Bahn launches "A festival all about football" on twelve Sundays

Deutsche Bahn invites everyone to the DB Cup Day for the 2006 FIFA World Cup™ a programme consisting of entertainment, information and action in the venue cities.

With a varied programme consisting of information, entertainment and action, Deutsche Bahn launched in March a tour starting in Hamburg and winding through all twelve of the 2006 FIFA World Cup™ venue cities. Under the motto "We are on the ball", the company invites everyone each Sunday to a "DB Cup Day for the2006 FIFA World Cup". Deutsche Bahn wishes to present its commitment to the 2006 FIFA World Cup as an Official Mobility and Logistics Services Provider and Official Supplier.

"With our DB Cup Days, we want to get people into the mood for the World Cup and Deutsche Bahn. At the same time, we will be presenting the Deutsche Bahn AG Group with the entire range of its services. We are glad to be able to make a big contribution to the success of the 2006 FIFA World Cup and that is what we want to convey to visitors", says Gabriele Handel-Jung, DB's project manager.

Visitors can expect a mixture of football action for young and old fans alike, informative discussion panels with prominent guests from sport, society and the DB Group, contests for tickets to FIFA World Cup games, BahnCards, other attractive prizes and a lot of entertainment. Visitors can find out about the World Cup involvement of Deutsche Bahn and its business areas interactively in the "DB-Infowelt" (info-world).

The World Cup ambassadors of the respective cities, mayors, FIFA representatives, well-known football players and representatives of Deutsche Bahn will also be present at the DB Cup Days. The programme will be compèred by Dieter Kürten, the former head of the ZDF Sportstudio, Peter Illmann and presenters from Deutsches Sportfernsehen (German sports TV). Apart from the Official Partner Fujifilm, the Official Mascot GOLEO VI will also make an appearance.

1954 World Champion Train in action

The legendary World Champion Train VT 08 will be in action at all venue cities. This train brought the German National Team back to Germany from Berne in 1954 after their triumphant success. Visitors can have a look around the train or experience it during shuttle runs. This unique historical vehicle with the original fixtures and fittings from the 1950s is one of the highlights during the DB Cup Days for the 2006 FIFA World Cup.

Vistors can go on a time journey with a very special fashion show: There will be a presentation of German football players' World Cup jerseys from 1954 to the present and of the development of the German railway - from the uniforms to the vehicle fleet.
