Beckenbauer in Paris and Belgrad
Franz Beckenbauer continues on his "Welcome Tour", visiting the federations of all the countries which have qualified for the 2006 FIFA World CupTM, with stops in Paris on Tuesday (24 January) and Belgrade on Wednesday (25 January). In the French capital the Organising Committee President, along with former French star Michel Platini, will visit the Mini Globe, which was set up last week in the Place du Trocadéro next to the Eiffel Tower.
In Belgrade, a reception with Serbia & Montenegro President Svetozar Marovic is planned. As well as Beckenbauer, OC Vice President Wolfgang Niersbach and adviser Fedor H. Radmann, the German delegation will include Lothar Matthäus, who holds the record for international appearances for Germany.
The OC party, led by Franz Beckenbauer, has already visited 16 countries and updated prominent guests from the worlds of politics, sport and the media about the current status of FIFA World Cup preparations. In the coming weeks, The Czech Republic (Prague, 30 January), Switzerland (Bern, 31 January), Spain (Madrid, 1 February) and England (London, 2 February) are on the agenda.
