Quintet secure Korea spots

Germany have become the latest side and final European nation to qualify for the FIFA U-20 World Cup Korea Republic 2017, joining France, Portugal, Italy and England at next year's global finals.

Germany defeated the Netherlands 5-4 on penalties after the match ended 3-3 after extra time in what was an extraordinary play-off to secure the final spot at Korea Republic 2017.

They will join hosts Korea Republic at the global tournament next year, as well as France, Portugal, Italy and England, who had already booked their place by qualifying for the U-19 European Championships semi-finals.

Germany are the fifth and final European team at the U-20 World Cup after the win, which was a play-off between Group A and Group B’s third-placed teams.

The FIFA U-20 World Cup kicks off on 20 May next year, where some of the world’s most talented young footballers will convene in Korea Republic.
