Bydgoszcz Stadium

Bydgoszcz Stadium was built between 1955 and 1957. The last thorough reconstruction of the stadium took place between 2007 and 2008 and its maximum capacity is 20,559. The stadium is located in the Zawisza Sports Complex, one of the most functional sports centres in Poland. The complex has hosted the Polish national football team ten times (the last time was in 2009 for a match against Canada). This stadium has been known as the capital of Polish athletics for years. It was the arena for many important, international athletic events. Bydgoszcz was twice the host city of the World U-20 Championships in Athletics and also twice the host city for the European Athletics U-23 Championships. In August 2019, the European Athletics Team Championships will take place at Bydgoszcz Stadium. Every day, Zawisza sportsmen from eight Olympic disciplines use the facility, including football club Zawisza Bydgoszcz, winners of the Polish Cup and Polish Super Cup in 2014. The club was founded in 1946, and Poland legend and current Polish Football Association President Zbigniew Boniek was born in the city and developed through the club's academy.
