Brazil win Olympic gold

  • Brazil edge Spain to win gold at the Men's Olympic Football Tournament

  • Yokohama, the stage on which Brazil won the 2002 World Cup, was the venue

  • The Seleção are the fifth nation to win back-to-back gold medals in the competition

Brazil are Men's Olympic Football Tournament gold medallists for the second consecutive time after a dramatic 2-1 victory over Spain in Yokohama, the same venue of the senior national team's FIFA World Cup™ triumph in 2002.

Matheus Cunha gave Brazil the lead right before the half-time whistle, but Mikel Oyarzabal levelled matters in the second half with a superb volley. Supersub Malcom made the difference in extra time after he latched on to the end of a fantastic pass sent in by Antony and Brazil held on to celebrate another gold medal.
