Russia provided the backdrop for a spectacular FIFA Confederations Cup. Between 17 June and 2 July, the six continental champions joined the host nation and the reigning world champions to fight it out for the right to succeed Brazil as the holders of the prestigious trophy.

The curtain came down on the competition on Sunday, as Germany added another title to their long list of honours, with their young and largely revamped side sending the clearest of messages to the teams looking to dethrone them next year.

The latest Tournament of Champions provided a stage on which some of the biggest names in world football rubbed shoulders with the rising stars on the international scene.
