Intriguing draw maps out quarter-final clashes

The UEFA Champions League quarter-final draw has laid out a blend of titanic and intriguing meetings on the road to the final in Cardiff, and the FIFA Club World Cup UAE 2017.

Leicester City are the only side never to have tasted this stage of the competition before and face a challenging trip to face defeated finalists Atletico Madrid, having eliminated Sevilla in the last round. Atleti**’s cross-city rivals were arguably paired in the tie of the draw, with current holders and reigning Club World Cup champions Real Madrid set to face Bayern Munich.

However, with a rerun of the 2015 final in store, Spanish rivals Barcelona – only in the hat thanks to their thrilling comeback against Paris Saint-Germain – can similarly stake a claim to having the standout clash, locking horns again with Italian champions Juventus. Borussia Dortumund, 2013 finalists themselves and returning to this stage after a three-year hiatus, will take on AS Monaco, who edged out Manchester City on away goals after a pulsating 6-6 aggregate draw.

The first legs will be played on 11 and 12 April, with the return games coming a week later on 18 and 19 April.
