Video Vault: Kidiaba, Mazembe and a unique celebration

TP Mazembe made history in 2010 by becoming the first African team to reach the FIFA Club World Cup final, eventually losing out to a Samuel Eto'o-inspired Inter. It made the Congo DR side’s success all the sweeter after exiting the tournament the previous year with two losses.

A central figure for Mazembe in both those campaigns was Robert Kidiaba – the flamboyant goalkeeper with a unique goal celebration. Here, the shot-stopper reflects on his journey from his beginnings as a striker to playing in goal in the Club World Cup final, as well as the origins of his distinctive ‘donkey ride’ celebration.
