15 days to go: Corinthians capture crown

The first international footballing event of the millennium, the FIFA Club World Championship saw teams gather from every corner of the globe in Brazil. From FIFA Club of the Century Real Madrid to Manchester United’s treble-winning side, the tournament boasted a plethora of talent as eight sides vied for the right to be called the world’s best.

Those eight were narrowed down to two in the showpiece decider – and both hailed from the host nation. CONMEBOL’s two representatives Corinthians and Vasco da Gama faced off in a mammoth clash at the Maracanã with the former running out winners after a penalty shoot-out.

The FIFA Club World Cup Qatar 2019 gets under way on 11 December.
