Quotes: Atletico Nacional-Kashima Antlers

Reinaldo Rueda, Atletico Nacional coach **

**We had high hopes of reaching the final and we feel frustrated and sad that we haven’t made it. This is football, and there were situations where the opposition dictated terms and others where we weren’t as effective as we needed to be in a game like this and against a team whose main asset is their ability to stick to a gameplan and be tactically disciplined. We became disorganised after the first goal. We created a few chances but we couldn’t put them away, while they made no mistakes. We were too confident in thinking that we’d able to win the game just by creating chances. We have to learn from this. It’s a harsh lesson but I’m sure it’ll help us improve.

Masatada Ishii, Kashima Antlers coach ** **We’ve made it to the final, which is an achievement for Kashima Antlers and Japanese football as a whole. It’s a whole new story for us and I’m delighted about that. We really wanted to go and win this game, and all the players were committed and contributed to the win. They posed a threat on several occasions, but we defended very well as a team, just as we’ve been doing all season. We’re here as the host club, but one day we’d like to take part in this competition as the representatives of Asia.
