USD 15 million at stake for teams at FIFA Club World Cup Japan 2006

A total of USD 15 million in prize money will be at stake this December at the FIFA Club World Cup Japan 2006 presented by TOYOTA, including a USD 4.5 million payout to the champions. This and many other competition details were confirmed at yesterday's meeting of the Organising Committee for the FIFA Club World Cup, chaired by FIFA Executive Committee member Dr Viacheslav Koloskov (Russia).

The Organising Committee expressed its great satisfaction with the presentations made by the Japan Football Association (JFA) and Dentsu, the Executive Event Producer, on the organisational preparations for the tournament. The committee also praised both for their outstanding commitment to ensuring the highest of standards at this competition as they move forward with their promotional activities and seek to build on the positive results of the initial phase of ticketing.

Furthermore, the Organising Committee decided to put forth a proposal for the FIFA Executive Committee  to consider at its 15 September meeting to continue to hold the FIFA Club World Cup in Japan until at least 2007.

This year's FIFA Club World Cup, scheduled from 10 to 17 December 2006, will take place in the Japanese cities of Tokyo, Toyota and Yokohama and will feature Club América (Mexico, CONCACAF Champions' Cup winners), Sport Club Internacional de Porto Alegre (Brazil, CONMEBOL Copa Libertadores winners), Auckland City FC (New Zealand, OFC Club Championship winners), FC Barcelona (Spain, UEFA Champions League winners) as well as the two sides that emerge triumphant in this year's AFC Champions League and CAF Champions League (to be determined in the coming months).

Complete details on international and domestic ticket sales, the official match schedule, news and updates on the AFC/CAF competitions and much more can be found on the competition page on FIFA.com.
