Nigeria, Senegal qualify for Bahamas 2017

Hosts Nigeria and Senegal will represent Africa at the FIFA Beach Soccer World Cup Bahamas 2017 after defeating Morocco 6-1 and Egypt 5-2 in their respective semi-final matches of the 2016 CAF Beach Soccer Africa Cup of Nations in Nigeria.

Senegal came from behind twice in their semi-final against Egypt to earn their victory late in the game, while Nigeria were comfortable winners on the night in Lagos with a dominant performance against Morocco.

Senegal participated in the FIFA Beach Soccer World Cup Portugal 2015 where they failed to progress out of a tough Group A including hosts Portugal, Japan and Argentina.

Senegal have participated in five Beach Soccer World Cups to date with quarter-final appearances in 2007 and 2011 representing their best finishes in their tournament history.

Nigeria participated in four Beach Soccer World Cups prior to Bahamas 2017. Identical to Senegal, their best finish in the tournament's history were quarter-final appearances in 2007 and 2011.

Nigeria and Senegal will play in the Beach Soccer Africa Cup of Nations final on Sunday.

Next year's FIFA Beach Soccer World Cup will take place in the Bahamas from 27 April to 7 May.
