Voting underway for revamped FIFA-FIFPro World11

  • Ballots being cast in 76 countries for FIFA-FIFPro World11

  • Poll covers the 2016/17 season, including the FIFA Confederations Cup

  • FIFA FIFPro World 11 will be announced at The Best FIFA Football Awards™ in October

Footballers across the globe have started voting for the FIFA FIFPro World11, with more than 60,000 ballot forms sent to 76 countries.

The FIFA FIFPro World 11, which will be announced at The Best FIFA Football Awards™ in London on Monday 23 October, will consist of one goalkeeper, four defenders, three midfielders, and three forwards.

The worldwide poll, which previously covered club and international performances over a calendar year, has changed format to align with the majority of competitions that run from August to June.

Players will select their best eleven based on the 2016/17 season, up to and including the FIFA Confederations Cup Russia 2017, which concluded last Sunday 2 July with Germany’s 1-0 victory over Chile in the final in Saint Petersburg.

“We’re pleased to cooperate with FIFA once again to deliver the world’s most prestigious team award,” said FIFPro General Secretary Theo van Seggelen. “The players decide, and that is the key, as they bring unique insight, knowing first-hand what it takes to reach the top.”

This is the 13th edition of the FIFA FIFPro World11 since the award’s initial launch by FIFPro, the World Players’ Union, in 2005. The award merged with FIFA in 2009.
