The Best back in London

  • The Best FIFA Football Awards 2018 to be held in London

  • Ceremony to take place on Monday 24 September

  • Venue to be announced at a later date

The Best FIFA Football Awards™ are returning to London. The glittering event to crown world football’s elite will take place in the United Kingdom’s capital for the second successive year, with the 2018 edition taking place on Monday 24 September.

With the inaugural The Best FIFA Football Awards taking place in Zurich, the 2017 edition saw the ceremony take place in ‘The Big Smoke’. Hosted by Londoner turned Hollywood star Idris Elba, a glittering array of stars from the football galaxy descended on the London Palladium, with Cristiano Ronaldo and Lieke Martens crowned the king and queen of world football for their achievements during the 2016/17 season.

That historic night was just the latest event in London’s long and storied footballing history, both on and off the pitch. The Laws of the Game were first formalised in 1863 in the city, making London the birthplace of the modern game. On Wembley’s hallowed turf, England lifted the FIFA World Cup™ in 1966, while the stadium has also played host to the European Cup/UEFA Champions League final on no fewer than seven occasions.

The city is not all about football though, with Buckingham Palace - Queen Elizabeth's official residence - just one of the vast array of attractions that await visitors to the capital of the United Kingdom. The London Eye, the Tower of London and the iconic Wembley Stadium are just a few more of the sights to tick off the bucket list for tourists visiting one of the world’s busiest cities.

This superb mixture of football and culture makes London the perfect city to once more host The Best FIFA Football Awards. The Best of the beautiful game will descend on the city in September, at a venue that will be announced at a later date.
