Silvia and Nickollas's magical Milan memories

  • Silvia Grecco won the 2019 FIFA Fan Award

  • The Brazilian was recognised for narrating matches for her blind son

  • FIFA was there to capture the Greccos’ experiences at The Best

Silvia Grecco says that, for years, she “felt invisible” with her son Nickollas. But the remarkable story of a shared passion - stoked by Silvia narrating Palmeiras matches for Nickollas, who is blind and autistic – has showcased not only them as individuals, but an important wider issue.

"There's been a radical change in our lives since FIFA told our story in the Sheroes video series,” Silvia explained. "Today, Nickollas is known to the whole world. And there’s now a realisation that people with disabilities exist and that sport has the ability to change their lives."

The latest stage in the Greccos’ rise to prominence came in Milan, where Silvia won the FIFA Fan Award at a star-studded ceremony for The Best FIFA Football Awards. Naturally, she was accompanied by Nickollas, and FIFA - having told their story through the Sheroes series - was there to capture their unforgettable journey, and their experiences in Italy.
