Following on from semi-automated offside & other technologies tested at FIFA Arab Cup Qatar 2021™, a further technology test was undertaken at the FIFA Club World Cup UAE 2021™ that took place between 3-12 February 2022.
Tests were focused on two high-priority objectives: semi-automated offside technology and improved communication to fans. For the first time, offside replay animations were broadcasted on TV and on the giant screens at the stadiums for tight offside incidents. Upcoming events The next testing event on the road map 2022/23 is the VAR Light test event in Zurich, Switzerland in May.
