In the latest Living Football podcast, host Reshmin Chowdhury is joined by former Uganda defender Jean Sseninde, who tells an incredible story of battling prejudice to develop women’s football in South Sudan.

Brought up in Uganda, Jean moved to London when she was just 17 years old. She played for Charlton [Athletic Women’s Football Club], London Phoenix Ladies, Crystal Palace LFC, Queen’s Park Rangers WFC, as well as the Uganda national team. At the same time off the pitch she was running her own football foundation.

Football means my whole, entire life to me, because everything in my life since I was little up to now has been about football. So, football is my life. I live football.
Jean Sseninde

In more recent times, Jean has been spearheading the South Sudan Football Association’s development of women’s football.

Also featured in episode 5 is French legend Youri Djorkaeff, who discusses his ambitions as the CEO of the FIFA Foundation, while Patrick Vieira talks about Les Bleus' 1998 FIFA World Cup™ triumph.
