With several domestic campaigns beginning this month, Video Assistant Referee (VAR) is being used in more of these competitions to help officials make important decisions in matches.

VAR was first implemented at last year’s FIFA Club World Cup before being used at the FIFA U-20 World Cup Korea Republic 2017 and the FIFA Confederations Cup Russia 2017. Over 70 matches in these competitions used VAR to help make refereeing decisions.

In the above video, we hear from FIFA referees about their experiences of using VAR at the Confederations Cup and the role that domestic competitions will play in the improvement of VAR.
