Final stage action got underway in Asia and Concacaf zones

Three more continents joined in the fun following on from a busy day of FIFA World Cup™ qualifying in Europe and Africa on Wednesday.
Final round qualifying kicked off in Asia as the long journey to Qatar 2022 continues to roll on. Oman picked up a shock win in Japan, Korea Republic were held on home soil by Iraq and Australia impressed against China PR.
The 12-match roster in Europe was headlined by a 2-1 defeat for 2010 world champions Spain in Sweden, while newly-crowned European champions Italy were held at home by Bulgaria. In Africa, Morocco and Algeria picked up notable victories at home.
Concacaf's new-look Octagonal kicked-off with Mexico the only nation to collect three points, although El Tri left it to the last minute at the Azteca before overcoming a gallant Jamaica. Further south, Brazil and Argentina overcame tricky away trips to maintain their winning form.
