Tahiti bounce back with dominant win over Mexico

Tahiti’s World Cup dream lives on after they put in a convincing performance against Concacaf champions Mexico with a 6-1 victory in Group B.

Gervais Chan-Kat scored a brace—his second catching the eye with a display of close control combined with a calm finish—to lead the team to a crucial victory following their disappointing opening 12-4 defeat by Italy.

Mexico scored their first goal of the tournament in the third period of the match through Jose Vizcarra, but it ended up being mere consolation for Ramon Raya’s charges, especially after Tearii Labaste, Heimanu Taiarui and Patrick Tepa added three more in the final period for the Tiki Toa (Warrior Gods).
