Over the course of three days, the top 32 gamers on the planet – whittled down from more than seven million who took part in the qualifying process, which kicked off last November – will be waging what promises to be a fierce battle to succeed reigning FIFA Interactive World Cup champion Mohamad Al-Bacha.

What's the format?The 32 participants will be split into two divisions: PlayStation 4 and Xbox. Each division will feature two groups of eight players, who will lock horns on the first day. The top four in each group will advance to the quarter-finals, which will take place the following day, as will the semi-finals.

The third and last day will be finals day. First the two divisional finals will be contested and then the respective winners will face off for the overall title.
