Colombia secured an important 3-0 (1-0) victory to leave their Group H fate in their own hands, while Poland’s 2018 FIFA World Cup Russia™ adventure will come to an end after the group stage.

Both teams came into this match under pressure after suffering defeats in their respective openers. The tension was palpable, with both sides starting tentatively and neither wanting to fall behind in front of a sell-out crowd of 42,837 at the Kazan Arena. Budweiser Man of the Match James Rodriguez dazzled with two assists to steer Los Cafeteros to victory. The Colombia No10 was consistently available and always had a plan when on the ball, while his finesse and trickery elicited applause from the crowd on more than one occasion.

The stat 20 – Today’s match was Colombia’s 20th at a FIFA World Cup. While they lost 2-1 when making their competition debut against Uruguay in Chile on 30 May 1962, today’s game ended in victory – the first time they have won a World Cup match in blue shirts.
