THE DAY REPLAYED – The second day of the Women's Youth Olympic Futsal Tournament Buenos Aires 2018 took place at the Main Futsal Hall on 8 October, bringing an opening victory for Japan and a first win for Bolivia, who had lost their first outing at the tournament.

More than 1,200 children from different schools filled the stands and quickly sided with one team or the other to give the games an added edge. While Japan's superior tactical and technical ability ultimately told, Cameroon never gave up.

Rikako Yamakawa hit a brace for the victors and Mai Miyamoto scored an exquisite goal after demonstrating outrageous skill on the ball. Colette Ndzanawas once again outstanding for Cameroon.

In the second match of the day, Bolivia got the better of an inexperienced Tonga side making their debut in a FIFA competition. Gifted attacker Maria Galvez was the standout player for the South Americans, scoring four goals and showing several moments of magic, much to the delight of the Bolivian fans, who turned out in large numbers once again.

Tonga's Seini Lutu made history by becoming her country's first player to score at a FIFA tournament.

Both before and after their match with Bolivia, the Tongan players delighted the crowd with the 'Haka', the famous Maori cultural dance that numerous Oceanic teams perform at sporting events.

The Japanese players bowed towards their opponent's bench and towards the referees after their encounter with Cameroon, a gesture that was met with warm applause from the stands.

What's next 9 October

In one of the most eagerly awaited matches of the tournament, title candidates Spain go up against a dangerous Thailand side. Both teams won their opening matches and will be looking to top the group.

In the first game of the day, Portugal will be eager to follow up their free-scoring form from their first outing when they take on Dominican Republic.
