A new FIFA eWorld Cup™ king has been crowned. ‘MoAuba’ defeated reigning champion ‘MsDossary’ in the Final Showdown in front of a watching crowd at The O2 in London as the competitive FIFA 19 season came to a close.

As well as boasting the prestige of being a world champion and getting his hands on the eWorld Cup trophy, the man from Werder Bremen bagged a life-changing USD 250,000.

“My mother is happy now, she wants six new pairs of shoes,” he said, laughing. “And my sister wants a new car. I couldn’t have imagined this. I started well at the tournament on Friday. I was defending well and when I do that, I can beat everyone and this time I showed it.”

One of six Germans at this year’s Grand Final, ‘MoAuba’ became the first of his countrymen to win the competition, despite Germany being one of the most established nations when it comes to competitive FIFA.

“I think it’s great for Germany,” he said. “I didn’t think a German would win it because there were players like 'Tekkz', 'Nicolas99fc' and 'MsDossary' that are on another level than all of us.

“The hardest thing at the eWorld Cup is to stay calm. You have to play your game. It’s not that you have to play better because in a tournament like this, you normally play worse than you usually do because you’re nervous. I tried to chill and play like I would play at home."

What makes Mo’s run to being a world champion even more impressive is the formidable opposition he had to overcome in the knockout stage. He dispatched last year’s PlayStation champion ‘Pinna97’ in the Round of 16 before overcoming FIFA eNations Cup winner ‘Maestro’ in a tantalising quarter-final.

A daunting task lay ahead in the semi-finals against PlayStation Global Series Playoff winner ‘Nicolas99fc’, but the ever-smiling German stood firm to book his place in the Final Showdown, where he then beat last year’s champion ‘MsDossary’, who was undefeated going into the encounter.

“I think I had the hardest bracket in the history of FIFA,” he said. “I played the third, second, and first-ranked players in the world in PlayStation, and then I had to play against the current holder. I beat all these champions and I can’t believe it.”

‘MoAuba’ looked buoyed playing in front of a watching audience at The O2 in London, feeding off the energy of the crowd in his games against Argentina’s ‘Nicolas99fc’ and Saudi Arabia’s ‘MsDossary’.

“When you play at home you have a crowd – you just can’t see them because they’re online,” he said. “I was surprised that so many people were supporting me, especially the British guys. It was great and everyone who knows me know that I enjoy playing in front of a crowd.”

As well as taking home a prize pool of USD 250,000, ‘MoAuba’ bagged an exclusive trip to The Best FIFA Football Awards in Milan this September, giving him the chance to meet the crème de la crème of on-field football talent.

“It would be great to meet Cristiano Ronaldo, especially because I think this could be one of the last chances to meet him as a footballer at the awards," he said. "There’s Lionel Messi too and hopefully I’ll be able to meet some of the Germans as well.”
