Kane receives adidas Golden Boot at Wembley

  • England striker Harry Kane presented with the adidas Golden Boot on Saturday

  • The Three Lions captain was top goalscorer at Russia 2018

  • First England player to achieve the feat since Gary Lineker in 1986

Before England’s UEFA Nations League opener against Spain on Saturday, 2018 FIFA World Cup Russia™ top goalscorer Harry Kane was presented with the adidas Golden Boot award at Wembley Stadium.

The Three Lions captain earned the honour after scoring six goals across six games at Russia 2018, as England reached the semi-finals of football’s showpiece event for the first time since Italy 1990. The 25-year-old’s goals included three from the penalty spot.

FIFA.com takes a closer look at the half-dozen markers that got Kane on the scoresheet in Russia.

Key Brace

In their opening Group G match on 18 June, Kane converted from two England corners to secure three valuable points against Tunisia in Volgograd, with his second goal being a decisive header in second-half stoppage time.

Hat-trick man

England’s second group match saw Gareth Southgate’s side score six goals against Panama in Nizhny Novgorod on 24 June, with Kane claiming the second hat-trick of the tournament. His first two goals came assuredly from the penalty spot, while the third proved fortuitous after Ruben Loftus-Cheek’s goal-bound shot deflected off Kane before finding the back of the net.

On target from the spot

Before the hour mark at Moscow’s Spartak Stadium, Kane’s final goal of Russia 2018 put the Three Lions into the lead in their Round of 16 clash against Colombia on 3 July. The forward struck his spot-kick into the middle of the goal, as Colombia goalkeeper David Ospina dove away to his right.
