FIFA Secretary General meets with Spanish authorities

FIFA Secretary General Fatma Samoura met with Inigo Mendez de Vigo, the Spanish Minister for Education, Culture, and Sport, in Madrid on Tuesday 5 February. Also present at the meeting were Jose Ramon Lete, the president of the Spanish Sports Council, and Juan Luis Larrea, the president of the Spanish Football Association (RFEF).

Taking place in a spirit of full cooperation, the meeting discussed the current situation at the RFEF. Both delegations agreed on the need for it to be resolved as speedily as possible and through established legal channels, all with a view to safeguarding the interests of Spanish football and respect for the regulations, transparency, and good governance. Those present also recognised the work carried out by the RFEF in ensuring that Spanish football is continuing to operate as normal.
