FIFA Club World Cup Morocco 2022™ in Numbers

The dust has settled on the FIFA Club World Cup Morocco 2022™, with Real Madrid once again crowned champions. Before the memories start to fade, we take a look at some of the big numbers from across the tournament.

  • 3 - Real Madrid’s victory saw Carlo Ancelotti equal Pep Guardiola’s record total of three FIFA Club World Cup titles as a coach. Ancelotti also won the tournament previously in 2007 with AC Milan and 2014 with Real Madrid.

  • 4 - Flamengo’s Pedro scored twice in both of his two appearances at Morocco 2022 to become just the fourth player to score four goals in a Club World Cup edition, after Denilson who scored four in 2009, Luis Suarez who netted five times in 2015, and Cristiano Ronaldo who scored four in 2016.

  • 5 - Real Madrid extended their record as the most successful club in the history of the FIFA Club World Cup having won their fifth title, moving them two clear of Spanish rivals Barcelona.

Tournament Stats

Was the average of goals per game scored, which is the highest in the history of the tournament. The previous high was 4.13 at UAE 2018.

Al Ahly’s Hussein El Shahat became the player with most FIFA Club World Cup appearances. He made his 12th appearance in the match for third place against Flamengo.

At 35 years and 54 days old, Karim Benzema became the oldest player to score in the FIFA CWC final, beating the record of Filippo Inzaghi (34y 129d) which had stood since 2007.

  • 6 - Toni Kroos is now the most successful player in FIFA Club World Cup history. His success at Morocco 2022 saw him extend his record to six wins from six finals.

  • 8 - Real Madrid’s 5-3 success over Al Hilal is the highest-scoring final in the history of the FIFA Club World Cup.

  • 10 - Auckland City have made more FIFA Club World Cup appearances than any other club. Morocco 2022 was their tenth appearance. This total would have been more but they had to withdraw from both the 2020 and 2021 editions due to COVID-19 pandemic and related quarantine measures required by the New Zealand authorities.

  • 13 - Al Hilal’s participation in this match means that Saudi Arabia are the 13th different nation to be represented in the FIFA Club World Cup final.

  • 20 - Al Ahly became the first team to feature in 20 FIFA Club World Cup matches when they faced Seattle Sounders in the second round.

  • 27 - Al Hilal became the 27th different club to reach the FIFA Club World Cup final.

  • 72 - Seattle Sounders became the 72nd different club to feature in the FIFA Club World Cup since the tournament started in 2000, and the first from the USA.

  • 150 - The semi-final encounter between Flamengo and Al Hilal was the 150th match played in FIFA Club World Cup history.
