  • FIFA U-17 Women’s World Cup 2022™ to take place in India from 11 to 30 October

FIFA and the Local Organising Committee for the FIFA U-17 Women’s World Cup 2022™ began an inspection visit today, marking an important step forward in preparations for the tournament.

Over the next few days, FIFA and LOC representatives will meet with key stakeholders and representatives in India to discuss the progress and ongoing preparations being made, as well as to evaluate current plans to ensure the health and safety of all players, fans and other participants at the tournament later this year.

Jaime Yarza, FIFA’s Director of Tournaments, said: “After a challenging past two years or so for everyone as a result of the COVID-19 pandemic, we are delighted to be back here in India and looking forward to a productive week ahead, during which we will be meeting, and working closely, with the Local Organising Committee, as well as many key organisations and stakeholders involved in the tournament.

“Whilst the health and safety of players and all those attending later this year remain a top priority for FIFA, we are confident that the FIFA U-17 Women’s World Cup will build on the success of the AFC Women’s Asian Cup India 2022 earlier this year and will be another landmark tournament, one that will showcase the future superstars of women’s football and leave a lasting impact both on and off the pitch.”
