Ray Wilkins has passed away today, aged 61. The former England captain featured at the 1982 and 1986 editions of the FIFA World Cup™, picking up 84 international caps in a ten-year spell for the Three Lions.

Affectionately nicknamed 'Butch', Wilkins had a remarkably storied playing career, playing for some of the world's biggest club sides. The former midfielder started his playing days at Chelsea, before signing for Manchester United and moving onto AC Milan and Paris Saint-Germain.

After hanging up his boots, Wilkins held coaching roles at Queens Park Rangers and Fulham, before taking a host of assistant coach roles - most notably at Chelsea, where he was caretaker manager for a spell in 2009. His final managerial role saw him take charge of the Jordanian national side during the 2015 AFC Asian Cup.
