Brazilian midfielder Philippe Coutinho has completed his transfer to Barcelona from Liverpool after spending five years with the Merseyside club.

Coutinho has signed a five-and-half year contract to play at the Camp Nou after completing a medical and agreeing personal terms.

"I am very happy. I have always said I am living a dream, we are very happy to be here," said Coutinho, speaking to Barça TV on Sunday. "To be able to play football, win titles, make the fans happy and play with a smile. These are the objectives.”

"It is incredible to know I will be around idols, with players who have such a great history like Leo, Luis, Iniesta, Pique, Busquets… all the great players. I am very happy to know I will be playing with them and I hope to be able to learn, live and win together."

The 25-year-old playmaking midfielder returns to Spain's La Liga as he spent half a season on loan from Internazionale to Espanyol in 2012.

Coutinho has performed at a high level consistently for Liverpool throughout his five seasons at Anfield, scoring 54 goals in over 200 appearances.

The Brazilian joins a strong *Barça *side who have a healthy nine-point lead at the top of the domestic table and will be hoping to put forth a strong challenge to win this year's UEFA Champions League trophy.
