Golden Ticket winner: It was an unbelievable experience

  • From Kuala Lumpur to London for the FIFA eWorld Cup Grand Final

  • Golden Ticket winner Nurul Wahieda tells of her trip to the Grand Final

  • "I was shaking with joy when I found out I'd won"

In the build-up to this year's FIFA eWorld Cup Grand Final in London, FIFA awarded two Golden Tickets on the FIFA eWorld Cup social media channels, a prize including return flights, hotel accommodation and VIP tickets to the Grand Final. The winner was selected from the four most creative entries in an online community vote.

Nurul Wahieda's picture was chosen from over 100 entries and was the clear winner in the vote, paving the way for her to travel to the Grand Final in London from Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia.

"After our 13-hour flight we were warmly welcomed in London and our driver told us about the city on our way to the hotel," she said. "I was shaking with joy when I found out I'd won. I could hardly believe it. It was like a dream come true."

Wahieda was allowed to take a companion with her on the trip. "My mum came with me because she's always supported my throughout my life," she explained. "She's also the one who bought me a games console and FIFA 18."

The competition winner witnessed the final matches of the FIFA eWorld Cup in person.

"It was absolutely unbelievable," she said. "The set-up in the O2 was amazing. It was a wonderful experience to be at the event itself because normally I can only watch it on live streams at home."

Although her favourite player - French gamer 'Aero' - was eliminated early on, Wahieda enjoyed the decisive matches at the tournament: "I've been cheering him on since last year. Hopefully he'll win the title next year.

"The Final Showdown was fantastic," she continued. "It's impressive to win without conceding and 'Msdossary' is a talented young player. After his game against 'kurt0411' in the semi-final I knew he'd be able to win the title. I followed the Global Series and the FIFA eWorld Cup all year and watched a lot of games. You meet new people through FIFA eSports and make a lot of new friends."

Wahieda has been playing FIFA herself since childhood: "I've played it ever since I got given a PlayStation2 as a present, because I've always loved football. I like playing FIFA with my classmates and I'm often the only girl taking part in FIFA tournaments.

"Thank you for this wonderful trip. I was also delighted to receive the adidas gear and I'll definitely wear it at my next futsal tournaments!"
