Lionel Messi has been named by the Municipal Government of Buenos Aires as the ambassador of the 2018 Youth Olympic Games, which will be held in the Argentinian capital.

He is an idol the world over, an example for people to follow and the perfect professional. He is a wonderful role model that youngsters can look up to and take inspiration from.”

The agreement reached with the player, who will now be the face of the 2018 Youth Olympic Games, form part of a wider partnership agreement that the Municipal Government of Buenos Aires has signed with the Leo Messi Foundation.
