The CAF U-23 Cup of Nations took place in Egypt from 8 to 22 November 2019. Côte d'Ivoire, Egypt and South Africa finished in the top three positions and therefore qualified for the Men's Olympic Football Tournament Tokyo 2020, with the Pharaohs taking home the trophy.
The AFC U-23 Championship 2020 was hosted by Thailand and ran from 8 to 26 January 2020. Korea Republic ended up as champions with Saudi Arabia finishing as runners-up, while Australia won the match for third place against Uzbekistan. All three teams will represent Asia at the Men's Olympic Football Tournament, along with hosts Japan.
The UEFA European U-21 Championship Italy 2019 determined the continent’s participants for the Men’s Olympic Football Tournament Tokyo 2020. Spain (champions), Germany (runners-up), Romania and France earned the four berths to the Games.
The Concacaf Men's Olympic Qualifying Tournament determined the region's participants for Tokyo 2020. Mexico finished as champions, defeating Honduras in the final. Both teams will represent Concacaf in Japan.
New Zealand won the eight-nation OFC Men's Olympic Tournament 2019 held between 21 September and 5 October 2019 in Fiji to qualifiy for the Men's Olympic Football Tournament Tokyo 2020.
Colombia hosted the region's qualifying tournament from 18 January to 9 February 2020. Argentina finished in first place, and therefore qualified for the Men’s Olympic Football Tournament Tokyo 2020. They were joined by runners-up Brazil.
