FIFA was deeply saddened to learn of the tragic demise of Branko Bulatovic, General Secretary of the Football Association of Serbia and Montenegro, who was shot and killed in the FA’s Belgrade headquarters on 26 March.
Mr Bulatovic was a dedicated and competent administrator, highly esteemed within FIFA since he assumed the position of General Secretary in 1991. He was devoted to football in his country and to the development of the game in spite of the difficult political context of the past 15 years. Reliable and appreciated, he will be painfully missed.
FIFA extends its sincerest condolences to the whole football family of Serbia and Montenegro, but above all to the late Mr Bulatovic’s wife, two children and relatives, to whom FIFA offers its heartfelt support and friendship in these moments of mourning and sorrow.
This crime, its circumstances and the fact that it took place in the hallway of the FA headquarters, constitutes a blow for all of us and FIFA expresses its hopes that the cowardly criminals behind this deplorable act will be swiftly brought to justice.
