Harry Langton, an English journalist and collector of football memorabilia, died yesterday 6 September of a heart attack. It was from him that FIFA acquired the so-called "Langton Collection ," which since has become the FIFA Museum Collection that will be put on display in the soon to be opened Football Museum in Preston.

Harry Langton was generally regarded as one of the world's most prominent and respected football collectors. FIFA had acquired from him his unique Collection five years ago before making it available to the Football Museum in Preston under the name The FIFA Museum Collection.

Sadly enough, Langton died close to the realisation of his vision. He had continued to provide a great deal of help to the Museum and the design team, and very recently provided a voice-over for one of the key icon objects in the Museum, the jersey from the 1872 England-Scotland international.
