Spreading the Spirit of Sport

Ülker has a proud history of helping support the development of sport throughout Turkey

Ülker, part of the globally recognised Yildiz Holdings, is the leading food and beverage brand in Turkey, as well as a household name in around 80 countries.

The company was a welcome recruit to the group of FIFA U-20 World Cup Turkey 2013 National Supporters and was unveiled at a special ceremony back in March.

At the ceremony, Yildiz Holding Board of Directors Vice-Chairman Ali Ülker explained that the company saw its backing of the FIFA U-20 World Cup as part of a wider effort aimed at bringing sport to as many people in Turkey as possible. 

He said: “We were very proud to become a supporter of such an important FIFA event, and one that Turkey is hosting for the first time. As a brand that has been supporting sporting activities in Turkey for so many years, we believe Turkey should be a country of sports and the spirit of sports should be spread to a wider audience.”

Grassroots Exclusive

Ülker was also the Exclusive Presenter of the Grassroots Programme festivals held throughout Turkey in the lead-up to the event and which were aimed specifically at opening up the beautiful game to as many young people as possible. 

The programme, which ran in parallel to a campaign run by Ülker since 2007, saw teams compete against each other on specially designed pitches every Friday over the course of seven weeks during April and May in seven Host City locations. 

Ülker has supported projects involving children who are regarded as the future of Turkish sports in the past, giving more than 250,000 children the chance to play sports in the past six years.

Ülker's support helped open up the Grassroots Programme across the nation.

A Strong Tradition

Ülker has a strong tradition of supporting the development of sport and the sports industry, and the company played a full and active part in the tournament, with a presence at the Fan Zones complemented by a print and TV campaign aimed at leveraging its status as a National Supporter of the event.
