Kenneth Perez steered Ajax Amsterdam to a 3-1 home victory over 10-man Heerenveen on Monday and a place in the Dutch playoff final for the UEFA Champions League qualifiers.

Playmaker Perez scored twice as Ajax cruised to a 5-1 aggregate win and their place in a final to be played over two legs against Twente Enschede on 10 and 18 May.

The winners will go into the UEFA Champions League third qualifying round, while the losers will play in the UEFA Cup.

Heerenveen were reduced to ten men six minutes before the break in Monday's semi-final second leg following a second booking for midfielder Michael Bradley. Ajax then broke the deadlock in stoppage time when Perez converted a penalty.

Winger Dennis Rommedahl struck from close range early in the second half to settle the tie before fellow Dane Perez made it 3-0. Croatian midfielder Danijel Pranjic scored Heerenveen's consolation goal after 62 minutes.

Heerenveen will now face another two-legged playoff against NAC Breda, who were crushed 8-1 on aggregate by Twente Enschede in the other semi-final, for a place in the UEFA Cup.
